What are Ingrown Toenails?
Ingrown toenails are common, often painful and can result in inflammation and infection. Ingrown toenails can develop due to nail shape, cutting technique, infection or trauma to the nail. In many cases the problem can be recurring so professional toenail treatment is essential.
The highly qualified team at The Foot and Ankle Clinic provide relief of painful ingrown toenails either with routine treatment or a simple correction procedure.
Walk in Walk Out Service
Either option can be performed on a walk-in-walk-out basis with minimal disruption to day-to-day life.
Nail surgery is indicated when conservative management fails. It is used for long term management for ingrowing toenails and often needed in cases where abnormally curved, thickened, damaged or fungal infected nails are a problem. It involves removing part of or the whole nail plate along the matrix. Once the matrix is removed the offending nail portion will not grow back again.
Painless treatment for ingrown toenails
The procedure itself is painless due to the administration of a local anaesthetic and no stitches are required. Once the nail and matrix is removed a chemical is applied to ensure regrowth of the nail does not occur. (This chemical also helps to ensure pain following this procedure is minimal).
At the Foot and Ankle Clinic our highly qualified team of Podiatrists are all members of the Australian Podiatry Association and offer a combined 50 years’ experience. They are trained to diagnose and effectively treat ingrown toenails via a range of treatments.
