5 Tips for the “Oxfam Trailwalker”
If you’re participating in the Oxfam Trailwalker this weekend, your feet are going to do over 125,000 steps over the 100km trail.
Here is The Foot and Ankle Clinic’s Podiatrist Dr. Lucy Gillivour’s Top 5 tips to get your feet across the finish line:
- Make sure your shoes fit and you have practiced in them before the walk
- Carry a blister kit and know how to use it
- Keep your toenails short and neat. If you haven’t already, cut them today.
- Regularly change your shoes and socks on the walk
- Seek Podiatric treatment after the walk
If you do find yourself with foot pain along the trail, there will be volunteer Podiatrists at the checkpoints who can help you out.
